About the Authors

Lyn Syler taught English for fifteen years before turning her teaching skills to basketry, conducting workshops and seminars throughout the country. She is also the author of the How to Make Baskets series, The Basket Book,Handmade Baskets, and The Ultimate Basket Book.  Lyn works and lives in North Carolina where in the early 1990’s she co-founded the North Carolina Basketmakers Association, which continues today as one of the largest basketmaking organizations in the country. Lyn’s has close ties to many basketmakers globally, giving her an extensive resource base.

Carolyn Kemp is a painter, watercolorist, teacher, and author. Her work is in numerous private and public collections. Carolyn lives in Maine and shows her baskets at the Center for Maine Craft in Gardiner and The Island Artisan in Bar Harbor.  Carolyn teaches at various venues around the country as well as at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village near her home. She is a member of the Walpole Artisan Cooperative Gallery in Walpole, NH.
